Open School Board
We have our Open School Board coming up on the 1st of December. We would like to invite all of our community members and families to join us as we discuss the school and 2021. This is a great opportunity to hear about the plans for the school, as well as looking at our 2021 community calendar.
Please see below flyer with all the details.
Pony Express
The Pony Express is nearly ready to be printed! We’re excited to share with you the year that’s been. The Pony Express is your exclusive insight into what your child’s year group has been up to, featuring write-ups for each year group along with photos taken throughout the year.
There are recaps of special events and year group photos to flick through – secure this snapshot of your child’s education at WGPS and make your deposit today!
Deposits are $20 per copy and can be made via bank transfer (preferably).
See below a sneak peak of this year’s Pony Express.
Community Tennis
Our Year 2 students have been enjoying tennis lessons with our community tennis coach, Darren Draper. Sport is often a great way we can help our WGPS kids to enage with our community and also explore what our community has to offer.
Thank you to our sport teachers, Mr Bird and Mr Higgs, for organising and bringing such programs to life here at WGPS.
Pictured below are some shots from their lessons.
Active Transport Results
Today our active transport results are:
- Car: 57%
- Cycle / Scoot: 18%
- Walk: 25%
PP to Year 6 students were surveyed. Keep up the good work! As summer creeps up and the days heat up, we like to remind our student’s how they can still practice active transport and stay cool at the same time.
Some tips include:
- Carrying a drink bottle
- Walking with sun protection on
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Light long sleeve clothing
- Walking in the shade where possible
Kiss and Collect
We wish to inform you all that as of Monday 7th December (beginning of Week 9) until the end of the year, the Kiss & Collect will be moved up to where the existing Early Childhood parking bays are. The 15 bays will not be available for parking in from 2pm to 2.45pm each week day during the outlined two week block. A map is provided with this notice, showing how the area will be used for Kiss and Collect.
With the beautiful weather hopefully sticking around, please help us reduce the vehicle traffic in our small car parks.
The school has recently been notified by the Children’s Crossings and Road Safety Committee that we have met the requirements for a Type A children’s crossing near the corner of McMillan Road and Kokoda Boulevard. This is another exciting development in our schools Traffic Management journey.
We continue to strive to keep our students and community safe.
Thank you for your support!
