From the Principal’s desk
Good afternoon to the Woodland Grove family,
School Board
Our date for the next School Board meeting has changed to 05 September at 2pm. Notice will be sent out to our members next week.
Play
Play is very important at Woodland Grove. We have Loose Parts Play in our playground. Our loose parts are all donated items. In this photo children are using chair frames to sit on with second hand keyboards on their laps. Children have been using loose parts to build a Bali Bus. They tell me the Bali Bus is free and that they have a ticket for Mrs Mottershead.
Annabelle said “I love the Bali Bus”.
Shayla said “It is fun on the Bali Bus”.
Ava reckons that, it’s cool.
Swimming lessons
It has been wonderful seeing our happy swimmers leaving and returning from the pool every day. Children are all working hard to learn and perfect their swimming techniques. Teachers, Education Assistants and our families have all been working together to make sure swimming lessons are successful for the children of Woodland Grove. Thank you to all of you for your support.
Musica Viva Workshop
We had our annual Musica Viva workshop at school today. Musica Viva brings exceptional performers to our school so children can experience live music in new and interesting ways. Today we had Wyniss visit our school with their wonderful performance celebrating Torres Strait culture and tradition. Wyniss members are from Moa Island in the western cluster of the Torres Strait Islands. Wyniss is the name of a very rare lizard that is only found on Moa Island which is also known as the Emerald Monitor Lizard.

Performance Assembly TH3 & TH4
TH3 and TH4 presented a powerful and moving performance at our Performance Assembly this week. The choral speaking was executed with precision and showed the hard work and practice that had been put in by both students and staff. The performance was written by Abbey F and Kira B. Congratulations to all involved.
We’ve got the up most respect
So Lest We Forget
They believe what they were doing was right
For Australia’s future, the ultimate sacrifice.
You can’t possible imagine the horrors of war
The feeling as they bravely stepped ashore.
As they pushed onto foreign soil,
Onto a place that they had never heard or seen before.
As they departed the families they waved and cheered,
Casting a nightmare that consumed over 4 years.
They hung out with strangers and their mates,
They thought that life was going great.
A bunch of mates hanging together
They were heroes on one big adventure.
The love and support they had for their nation,
There was no hold backs, no hesitation
Here comes the chorus so let’s get vocal
Help me sing it and don’t be antisocial
This is for the diggers that never came back
They fought for our country on the off beaten track
The wounded and the lost is insane
They did it for our country and not in vein.
