From the Principal’s desk,
National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence
Some of our classes participated in the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence last week. They explored different types of bullying and strategies to combat these. We will continue to explore how we can promote our core values and ensure our school is free of bullying.
Friends
Kiara and Liana are friends. They like to read books in the library and colour in.
Earth Hour
Mr Gould and Mrs Young’s classes have been exploring sustainability. They participated in Earth
Hour and ran their class outside this morning in order to save electricity. It was great to see the class involved in this sustainability initiative.
Ride 2 School – Friday 23 March, 2018
Lots of participants in Ride 2 School today. The slow bike race was a great success.
As we explore traffic management around our school it is interesting to note that a survey run last week on modes of transport resulted in the following
- 50% of our children arrived by car.
- 25% of our children used their bike or scooter to get to school.
- 25% of our children walked to school.
As we get bigger there is going to be enormous pressure on our parking if our percentage of children arriving to school by car remains at 50%.
I met with a consultant from School Drug and Road Awareness (SDERA) this week with a view to looking at our approach to road safety at Woodland Grove. If you are interested in joining this committee please send an email to the school either through the website https://woodlandgroveps.wa.edu.au/contact-us/ or directly to woodlandgrove.ps@education.wa.edu.au
