Book Week Dress Up & Parade
What a fantastic morning celebrating Book Week! It was so lovely to see all our WGPS families and community members together again after a long time apart. We were so proud to see everyone doing their best to respect and adhere to social distancing measures. It was awesome to see all the different dress ups that students and staff members came up with.
Congratulations to all the awards winners for best dressed! Special mention to Mrs Bosma for promoting the event in the Library and for joining in the fun with her creative Bad Guys costume!
Poi
We were lucky enough to have some Poi donated to our school by the Ngapo family. Poi is considered to be one of the most common M?ori instruments used (teara.govt.nz, 2020). It consists of a ball of dried flax on a string and is used to swing and tap by hand to make rhythmic patterns and sounds (teara.govt.nz, 2020).
Pictured are some of our Music students using them. Thank you to the Ngapo family for donating such thoughtful gifts to our school. These instruments will not only help educate our students musically but also on some of the traditional M?ori instruments.
School Photo Day
It’s that time of year again where we welcome the fantastic photo company Kapture into our school to take our photos. While some things have changed due to the restrictions posed by COVID, photo day will look much the same. Please be aware that there is now a limit on the amount of Sibling photo orders. So, if you’d like to secure one be sure to get in quick. Head to the website below with our school code and student ID.
