From the Principal’s Desk
Congratulations
A BIG congratulations to Mr Ben Gould, one of our amazing and dedicated Year 5/6 teachers. Ben has been has been shortlisted for the Teachers Mutual Bank Primary School Teacher of the Year – Government Award. Well done! A great achievement, just to make the shortlist in this national competition. Woodland Grove Primary School are very proud to have teachers of Ben’s calibre working at our wonderful school.
Mr Gould has a good personality. He challenges us and makes subjects that are hard easy to understand. We have interesting experiences in his class.

This week I share with you Priority 2 of our Business Plan. Our priorities are identified through consultation with Staff and School Board. When deciding on our priorities consideration is given to the needs of our students based on data collected and student progress along with Department of Education directions and educational research outlining best practice.
Catching up with Mr Jones from Byford Secondary at Teach Well Mrs Reid, Mr Kujawski and Mr Holden hard at work at Teach Well.
The biggest impact we can have on student achievement is to make sure our teachers are expert practitioners. At Woodland Grove it is our aim to have all our teachers working at a high level. With this in mind our staff attend Teach Well. Teach Well is a masterclass in high impact instruction. It is a spaced 5 day program with teachers completing high level tasks in between sessions.
This week we had staff from K to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6 attend with their Associate Principals, Ms Seymour and Ms Hartman. You may have noticed that your children are more independent and happier to take risks with their learning. Teach Well helps our teachers with ways to make this happen. It is important for children to have the courage to independently have a go and challenge themselves in order to grow.
Our student results in Reading since we opened in 2017 are amazing and testament to the high quality teaching already in place. See below:

Thank You
A BIG thank you to our wonderful community for your input in to our Tell Them From Me survey. So far we have 119 respondents, a great response given the Covid restrictions that have been in place whilst the survey was open. We will get the survey results out to our community once School Board have seen them.
Calendar
A reminder that our Pupil Free Day scheduled for the 8th June has been cancelled.
Remember to check in with our website calendar regularly to stay up to date with what’s happening in the school.
