Blog Week 7 – Term 4

Good afternoon families,

We are certainly finishing the year with a bang with our disco, book awards and nativity play to mention a few.

Disco

Thursday night’s disco was a huge success. Lots of happy children. A special mention has to go to DJ Foxx, our very own Mr Liackman. DJ Foxx kept the tunes coming with children and adults on their feet busting out their best moves. Once again our fantastic P&C were super organised and ran the disco with aplomb. Thank you to the P&C. If you are interested in being more involved in school events it is very easy to join P&C and contribute when you are able. Thank you to our staff who helped out with the disco. These events cannot take place without the help and support of our staff form the front desk girls through to our teachers and education assistants.

Lastly but not least a BIG thank you to the children of Woodland Grove. The behaviour and enthusiasm of our students was exemplary. There are quite a few tired faces at school today.

Girls Multisport Day

Girls from Years 4 to 6 participated in a multisport day of cricket, AFL and netball last week.

Congratulations to our netball team who won the West Coast Fever cup. More importantly congratulations to all girls who attended.

They demonstrated our core values of Respect, Integrity, Courage and Inclusivity.

Well done girls it is lovely to get the positive feedback of our students.

Contributions and Charges

Our Contributions and Charges for 2018 will be sent out to all our families this coming week. This allows our families to budget for the upcoming year. Contributions and charges are ratified by our School Board.

You will notice that we have instrumental music lessons being provided by Primary Music Institute. Children from Year 1 upwards will have the opportunity to learn the guitar or keyboard, with staff from Primary Music Institute withdrawing children from class to attend lessons. Parents will have a choice of a group lesson or individual lesson as shown on our Contributions and Charges document. Please note that children will attend to the school’s music program. More information regarding private music tuition will come out later.

We are encouraging our families to pay their contributions as soon as possible. We have been provided with some wonderful prizes by our Byford community. These prizes are being offered as an incentive to pay your contributions early. Winners will be announced on 13 December at our Twilight Nativity Play and Carols event.

Twilight Book Awards – 06 December, 5pm

Our Twilight Book Awards is shaping up to be a wonderful celebration of our school and the successes of our students. We are encouraging all our families to attend. Our choir will be performing and we will say goodbye to our first group of Year 6s. Children who have demonstrated academic excellence and those who have practiced our core school values will also be rewarded. The coffee van will be in attendance. It should be a lovely night.

Twilight Nativity Play and Carols – 13 December, 5pm

Our Twilight Nativity Play and Carols event promises to be a wonderful night. Children have been working hard on their performance and practicing carols. We have a food truck booked for the night along with the coffee van. We will be announcing the winners of our prizes for those who have paid their contributions early. We will also announce the names of the students whose art work has been selected for the cover page and back page of our inaugural Year Book.
