Blog Week  1 – Term 3

Blog Week  1 Term 3

Good afternoon to all our families.

We are well and truly back into the swing of things for Term 3. It is wonderful to see all our familiar faces and some new ones too. A BIG welcome to all our new families I hope your time at Woodland Grove is a happy one. We look forward to working with you to help your child/ren to be the best they can be. It is an honour and a privilege to be entrusted with them.

We also welcome our new staff:

  • Lisa Singh – Auslan Interpreter. Ms Singh is working primarily on a one to one basis with a student in Kindergarten. She comes to us as a highly recommended and experienced educator.
  • Peter Sinagra – Year 5/6 Student Teacher. Mr Sinagra is on his final Practicum Placement. He is a student from The University of Notre Dame. Mr Sinagra is full of enthusiasm for his placement here and we look forward to introducing him to teaching at our school and learning just as much from him.

Swimming Lessons

We began the term with swimming lessons which is always an organisational challenge on the first day back. Our students, their families and our staff had the lessons well in hand; unfortunately the buses went to the wrong school which put us behind for the day. Cockburn Arc swimming teachers were very flexible. All students met their swimming teachers and went through swimming emergency procedures. Whilst it wasn’t an ideal start students are now into the routine and receiving quality instruction.

School Development Day

On Monday of this week all staff attended Professional Learning at our school. A number of areas were covered on the day including; Wellbeing, Children and Trauma, Dyslexia, Visible Learning and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Maths). Staff worked very hard on the day and were able to focus on the needs of their students. It was a great day of learning for all involved.

Drop Boxes

We have had Drop Boxes installed in out breezeway. These boxes are set up for payments and permission notes. Our families will receive payment envelopes in the near future. These envelopes allow you to complete the payment particulars and enclose permission slips and money. They also have space for credit card information. We have placed some envelopes and pens on the boxes. Please have a look at the boxes. Do not hesitate to ask at the front office if you would like some help with how to use them.

2018 Enrolments

We are taking enrolments for 2018. If you know of any families who are planning to enrol in 2018 please encourage them to do so. Information about enrolling at our school can be found on our website link below
