From the Principal’s desk
We have had some great people working in our school this week. Not only have we had visitors from different groups provide our children will a variety of opportunities we have had a number of relief staff in due to illness. Unfortunately, the flu season has hit Woodland Grove with a vengeance, both children and staff have been home sick. I hope you all get well soon. A big thank you to all our Relief Staff. We are really lucky to have a number of staff who work at our school regularly. It has been wonderful to have our whole school community welcome our new staff to our school and make sure they feel welcome. We have also had students from university working here for their teaching practicums. These students have felt very welcome and supported at our school. Thank you to all involved. It is wonderful to support the next generation of teachers to become excellent practitioners.
School Tour
On Wednesday 24 July at 7.45am our School Board will be having a tour of our school. If you are interested in the work of School Board or even in considering being involved as a School Board member you are welcome to join our tour. We will finish the tour with light refreshments and a general discussion about our school.
Stephen Michael Foundation
Our school held an incursion this week where members of the Stephen Michael Foundation educated our Year 5 and 6 students on traditional Indigenous games. Their mission is; “Through collaborative and sustainable sporting, education, employment, wellbeing and leadership programs, the Stephen Michael Foundation supports young people to become valued members of our community regardless of cultural background, gender of social circumstances.” Children had a lot of fun playing traditional games whilst learning some more about Aboriginal culture.
Tennis
A number of our children enjoy tennis coaching on Friday morning at our school. Our Physical Education teachers; Mr Bird and Mr Higgs have worked closely with Tennis Australia to provide our children with wonderful opportunities in tennis. Today all Pre Primary children received a tennis racquet each through our tennis program. Thank you to the support of ANZ Bank and Tennis Australia.
