West Oz Wildlife

West Oz Wildlife was at Woodland Grove throughout the week. All classes attended a one hour incursion with a wildlife expert and met a variety of native animals including kangaroos, koalas, snakes, lizards and a dingo.

Students had an opportunity to pat each of the animals. During the incursion, the students discussed each animal and its conservation with the wildlife expert.

Thank you to Mr Liackman for organising this engaging educational experience for the children of Woodland Grove.

ANZAC Day

Our ANZAC service was held this morning. I would like to congratulate our students who led the service and spoke. Our choir’s performance was sublime. Our invited guests; Mr Barry O’Neil who spoke about the significance of ANZAC Day and Mr Paul Spencer from the WA Police Pipe Band ensured that our service was special and meaningful.

The bagpipes were played as students were seated and as they left to go back to class. They were also played as the wreaths were laid. Our choir sang three songs which included leading the whole school as they sang “Spirit of the ANZAC”. It was a moving and thought provoking performance.

Thank you to Mrs Julie Good for her work with the choir and the music program in our school. Thank you also to Mr Dahmen Higgs and our student leadership team for ensuring the service ran smoothly. Lastly a BIG thank you to our staff and students.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the following people and organisations for their support of our ANZAC service:

  • Serpentine Jarrahdale RSL
  • Mr Barry O’Neil – 10th Light Horse Memorial Troop and Vietnam Veteran
  • Mr Bryce Easton – Sound System
  • Heavenly Scent Flowers Byford – Floral donations
  • Mr Paul Spencer and the WA Police Pipe band.

Our school would not be the amazing school it is without the community support we enjoy.
