From the Principal’s desk,
Walker Learning
All our K/PP teachers attended professional learning yesterday on the Walker Learning approach. As you know we have a focus on the ‘whole child’ at Woodland Grove and we are interested in how we can build a child’s social and emotional wellbeing whilst catering for his/her academic needs. The Walker Learning approach will add value to our current Reggio influenced approach in Kindergarten in particular. At Woodland Grove we believe that a play based approach to education in the early years is very important and that play is one of the most important activities for children. As educators we need to ensure that the play is purposeful and that there is rigour in the program at school. As we explore and embed the Walker Learning approach we will keep our community informed through the blog, parent information sessions and Connect. Cultural Competence Committee
The Cultural Competence Committee met last week. The warmth and enthusiasm in the room was palpable. The group is very keen to build inclusivity and respect throughout the school through promoting and valuing culture. There are a number of school wide initiatives being considered by the group including Multi-Cultural Day as a whole school activity. If you are interested in being a part of this committee please do not hesitate to join us. The next meeting is scheduled for 09 April at 1:00pm in the Conference Room.
3 Way Interviews
Thank you to all our families for taking up the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher. I know that our teachers really appreciated the opportunity to connect with families and to work together to improve outcomes for the children of our school. Ride 2 School – Friday 23 March, 2018
This Friday 23rd March is Ride 2 School Day. Children from Woodland Grove are encouraged to ride to school with the appropriate safety equipment. Mr Bird will be running some activities with children associated with the Ride 2 School initiative. Looking forward to seeing how many participants we get.
