Author Visit – Dr Cameron Stelzer, The Story Doctor

On Thursday 13 September, we have a special visit from Author and Illustrator Dr Cameron Stelzer. Cameron is visiting Woodland Grove Primary School to run workshops with our students. Kindergarten, Prep-Primary and Year 1 students will enjoy an interactive Big Screen Book Reading and follow-along drawing activity with Cameron. Year 2-6 students will be taking a behind-the-scenes look at creating a book, and applying their own creative components. Students and teachers are looking forward to a fantastic day!

In conjunction with the Author Visit, Woodland Grove Primary School families have a special opportunity to purchase signed and personalised copies of Cameron’s books at special prices. Individual books are $15 each and there are also exclusive book sets available. Students will receive an order form on the day of the workshops. Forms and payment can be returned the following morning, Friday 14 September, to the Front Office.

Mundijong Public Library

The Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and Mundijong Public Library would like to invite pupils and parents to celebrate Children’s Book Week by taking part in a book week themed activity – from 18 to 24 August come find your treasure in the library! Children are invited to visit us in their Book Week costume to go treasure hunting in the library.
Follow Captain One-Leg’s treasure map to find a prize at the spot marked X. Plus all treasure hunters get the chance to enter our prize draw to win a signed Jeannie Baker book pack! All children are welcome to hunt for treasure, and check out the Library’s new display of Book of the Year books whilst you’re at it.

Restructure

As you know we were planning to restructure our classes from Year 2 to Year 6 next week, which includes forming a brand new Year 4 class.
I am writing to let you know that we have had to postpone our restructure to the beginning of Week 5, Monday 13th August. The delay in starting our staff recruitment process is unfortunately beyond our control.
I apologise for any inconvenience this delay may cause. Do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss further.
I look forward to introducing our new teachers to our school within the next week.

Mud Play

Our children have been enjoying the wet weather… some a little more than others. At Woodland Grove we encourage the children at our school to engage with the environment. They are welcome to bring a raincoat and wear gum boots to school if they want to jump through puddles.

NAIDOC Week

Our Year 1 students have completed some fantastic work during NAIDOC week and have learnt some interesting facts about Aboriginal culture. There is a wonderful display in the Year 1 Standardbred wet area. Please come and have a look when you drop your children off or pick them up. You are very welcome.
